The picture above is really interesting to me. This individual was "puddling" a bit differently from most butterflies. Instead of finding a muddy spot and sipping the salts from the mud, this fellow found a nice worn brick by the edge of the creek. Since it was dry, he would excrete fluid from his abdomen, take a step backwards, and sip-up the fluid with its newly-dissolved salts.
